CD REVIEWS

PIVITOL ALLIANCE
"The Rezidudes are a group of fun, tone deaf, nitwits that could teach faux punk bands like Green Day or Good Charlotte a thing or two about what punk’s really about."

BC MUSIC REVIEW
Now this, this is fun. The Rezidudes are not a band to be taken seriously. If you make any attempt to approach this band with anything other than a party mindset you will be surely disappointed, and are likely to not get this.

This is the kind of music that you put on at a party with free flowing beer and a group of friends willing to sing along and make jolly fools of themselves. Seriously, one listen to this album and how can you not want a party? Take some songs from decades pasts, put them through a punk metal blender, and it serves as many as needed.

Welcome to the Suck comes complete with a wide array of popular songs from the past that are turned into these anthems that are suitable for any occasion, so long as the mood is light and folks are willing to take that extra step necessary to truly enjoy them as I believe they were intended. They were clearly made by a group of guys that were looking to work out a different side of the music jones. This was not, could not, have been intended to be anything other than a jolt of fun.

I have found it impossible to pick out any particular songs to call the "best" of the album, however there are definitely songs that I know better than others, and to hear them in this format is rather humorous. Take, for example, there versions of songs like Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer," The Beatles' "Help," The Mamas and Papas' "California Dreamin'," Soft Cell's "Tainted Love," the theme from Cheers, Tommy Tutone's "867-5309 Jenny," Rolling Stones "Paint it Black," and Motorhead's "Ace of Spades," watch as they change them from their original styles and put a punk spin on them completley changing their effect. I know, it looks like I listed an entire albums worth of songs, but there is much more. Welcome to the Suck is comprised of 20 songs, all of the highest caliber.

Bottomline. This album is a lot of fun. I have to recommend this. Looking for a breath of fresh air amidst the bands that take themselves a little too seriously? Looking for something to crank up and sing along to? Well, Welcome to the Suck is for you.
Recommended.

METALCORE MAGAZINE
Now this was some really cool old school punk rock/hardcore. This is raw the way it needs to be. The band crank out a bunch of cover tunes and make them into their own twisted sound. California Dreaming never sounded so good or fast ha ha. 20 tunes are found here and each one is a classic in it's own way. I love the way the band did these as they made them their own. "Come Dancing" by The Kinks is given the speed treatment as is "Country Roads" by John Denver. "Ace of Spades' by Motorhead is done to perfection. An excellent release of what hardcore should be and that is fun and fast.

HEAVY METAL RESOURCE
I'll put this right up front. This band is definitely more of a Punk band then anything. While I don't listen to Punk alot, every now and then something comes along that grabs my interest a bit. The Rezidudes was one of those that caught my attention. The first thing that jumps out at you is the album cover. Then you have the title 'Welcome to the Suck'. Not exactly sure what that's all about, but it gets your attention nonetheless. The next thing that caught my ear was the songs that this band does. This to me was the most hilarious thing of all. The band's sound to me is geared more old school Punk. The tempo is quick on most tracks and for those that were never quick to begin with, they get a serious jack up in tempo. Some of the tracks that had me laughing included the theme from 'Cheers', John Denver's 'Take Me Home Country Roads, the jacked up version of Soft Cell's 'Tainted Love', and Van Morrison's 'Brown Eyed Girl'. You kind of get the idea based on those song selections of what this band is about. Will this appeal to Metal fans? Hard to say actually. I think it's actually much more fun to listen to as a Metal fan then most of the 90's trash that we had to put up with. This is all about having fun again. Apparently the album was recorded in one take and it's presented without alot of polish. Believe me, this type of music shouldn't have polish, it should be raw and in your face. The album succeeds on this front most definitely. I would say the song on this album that most fits the band is Motorhead's 'Ace of Spades' Motorhead definitely had an influence in both the Punk and Metal scenes, so I thought this was very fitting. If you aren't afraid to get slightly experimental with your music, this one is quite fun to listen to.

Overall
It's in your face, lots of humor obviously, and most definitely Punk in nature. Don't let that sway your opinion of this recording before you at least sample it. The song selections are quite humorous. Punk versions that run the spectrum of music from decades ago. The Rezidudes in my opinion lean more towards an old school Punk sound more then someone like Green Day. If you are looking for something that comes across as a bit fun, but still rocks out, check this album out for sure!

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
What’s wrong with having a little bit of fun with rock n’ roll? The Rezidudes are certainly unhappy with the current over-serious state of rock n’ roll and this Manchvegas, New Hampshire-based quintet are ready to do something about it with their July 17th WORLDWIDE release on Locomotive Records, Welcome to the Suck. Think South Cali pop punk (Me First and the Gimme Gimme's, Avail, No Use for a Name, etc.) with heavy metal guitars, and you’re not far off from the Rezidudes’ musical forte. But instead of specializing in original compositions, the quintet takes well-known songs from the 50’s through the 80’s and transforms them into metal/punk party anthems – including Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Boxer”, John Denver’s “Country Roads” and even the “Theme from Cheers”, among others. Comprised of Shannon Verfaillie (vocals), Meliah Rage’s Jim Koury (guitar), Kevin Cornish (guitar), Jimbo Ormiston (bass), and Andre Dube (drums), The Rezidudes are (according to Cornish) “…a group of life long friends who enjoy getting together once a week to live out our mid-life crisis, rock and roll fantasies and have a good time. In a nut shell, we get a kick out of taking tired old mellow songs that everybody knows and giving them a swift kick in the ass. Picture the evil offspring of Carly Simon and Joey Ramone if you would.” Welcome to the Suck was recorded at Screaming Ferret Studios in Manchester, New Hampshire by label head Tim Koukos, and mastered by Grammy Award Winner Doc Wiley at Sonic Nerve Studio in Miami Beach, Florida. “This had to be one of, if not the most, fun sessions I’ve ever recorded and co-produced,” admits Koukos. “The hardest part was trying to stop laughing while we were tracking so we could actually finish the recordings! Very fond memories from this one that I’ll truly cherish for the rest of my life.”

We used to be called "Mumrik" that was looking for a singer and now we finally found a singer and the band name became STM since we are working together at a distance of 6000miles from Leeds, UK to Kyoto, Japan.
