The mission of "Radio Free South West" (RFSW) is to introduce listeners to unsigned singer-songwriters and bands from the South West of England.
Radio Free South West is more than just an Internet radio station. It represents a community of bands/artists who have chosen to promote themselves as a group, rather than just individually. Whereas a single band/artist is limited by their own resources, a community concept creates new promotional opportunities for participation. Cross-linking, gig-sharing, and showcases are all part of the vision that drives the Radio Free South West project.
As an example of cross-linking Radio Free South West has teamed up with the People’s Republic of South Devon to work together to get the best South West music to more ears. The People's Republic of South Devon provide coverage of arts, the environment and current affairs in South Devon and beyond. Check out the nifty little plug in below to keep up with the People's Republic of South Devon's latest posts.
The founder of Radio Free South West is Exeter based singer-songwriter Stuart Wills. Over the years Stuart had seen many talented singer-songwriters and bands at open mic nights and gigs around the South West who he thought deserved a bigger audience. He therefore decided that he would do his bit in promoting music from the Region by setting up Radio Free South West.
