Ignoring the fact that he was, in some cases 130 pounds heavier than the competition, Rickey went on to reach 6 out of 7 final round appearances, winning 4 and setting and re-setting the record 4 times throughout the season to an astounding 8.90 on his stock wheelbase 2009 Kawasaki ZX14. * 2009- also marked the year Gadson became the fastest man to ever race on 2 wheels in Africa. Rickey, who was riding the turbocharged ZX12 Pro Mod owned by BEAR Engineering's Pierre Labuscagne, broke the 25 yr TOP FUEL record of 7.52 in front of 20 thousand cheering SA fans. Rickey ran the fastest time ever in Africa at 7.34 310kph. Another milestone in 2009 was the 206 mph run Gadson and his Turbo ZX14 Prostreet put together at the world finals in Valdosta Ga, which is the fastest non-wheelie bar street bike run ever!! 2008 -saw Rickey and his ZX14 set the bar even higher with wins in MIROCK SERIES and AMA Dragbike series. Rickey's ZX14 was the only "Big Bore" motorcycle to win the True Street class in 2008,which is normally dominated by the 1000 liter bikes. 2007 -starts his 24th year as a professional motorcycle drag racer and his 10th year partnered with Kawasaki. Gadson finished the year with the #2 plate in the Super street class. 2006 -was a highly successful year for Rickey Gadson and Kawasaki motors corp. In his first year back with the big corp. Rickey picked up right where he left off, which is winning races!! Gadson and the ZX14 under the crew chief of Coby Adams went right to work proving that they had the winning combination (bike,rider,mechanic) by immediately winning the first race of the year on a motorcycle that wasn't even available to the public yet. By the last race of the year they had been to every final except one and won more races(3) than any other bike and rider, and also owned the new national record at 8.15 @ 181 mph. A mechanical malfunction stopped the team from possibly winning a 9th world championship. Gadson did however earn the no 2 plate for the season! *2005 -was very successful year for the now privateer(first time in 7 yrs) who teamed up Brock Davidson, and the late WIZARD of tuning Dave Owens, to dominate the 1000SS Supersport class with 6 of 8 wins and national championship no #8. Returned to NHRA Prostock motorcycle with Harry Lartigue and Lucas oil as primary sponsor. 2004- finished the season #2 with a down to the wire battle in the ever popular Prostreet class under the tuning guidance of THE MASTER.....Rob Muzzy Sadly this was the last year with long time sponsor Kawasaki due to budget restraints. Rickey would find himself going back to grass roots racing for the upcoming season. *2003- The year for CHAMPIONSHIP no #7 in the highly contested Street Bike Shootout class where Gadson became the winningest rider in the class with 11 straight wins in 2 seasons. Rickey posted the fastest pass ever for a no-wheelie bar bike at 7.36 197 2001- began his fourth year as a full-time Kawasaki-sponsored drag racer; in 1998 he became the sport first full-time factory-sponsored rider. 2001, Established Rickey Gadson motorcycle drag racing school 2000-Set national record for ¼ mile E.T. of 7.93 @ 176 mph in Atco, N.J., September 9th *1999- Won third consecutive AMA/Prostar Pro Superbike National Championship 1999, Finished the season with the number three national rankings in the 600 Supersport competition: *1998- Won second consecutive AMA Prostar Pro Superbike national championship winning 6 of 8 races 1997 -1998 finished second in the 600 Supersport class * 1997- Won AMA Prostar Pro Superbike national championship winning 6 of 8 races * 1996- Won first AMA Super Sport National Championship winning 7 of 8 races during the season 1993- qualified 4th in NHRA Prostock debut in Atlanta Ga. *1991, Won Pro Comp Challenge World Championship and AMA "Rookie of the Year" Honors *1989 won 1st sportsman national championship in TOP GAS * CHAMPIONSHIP YEARS
