The first record I ever bought was "Theme from S.W.A.T." by Rhythm Heritage. The first concert I remember going to see was the Volunteer Jam in the 70's. The first band I ever made a point to see was Chic at the Gaslight Theater at Opryland in 1979. My first band obsessions were The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, and The Clash. The first band I ever hated was KISS, but more because I hated the people who liked them than for the music (although I was more interested in listening to Brides of Funkenstein that day).

While a film takes a group of dedicated professionals, it is ultimately the director, producer, and even the writer who impress their vision on a film. Favorites include: Alfred Hitchcock, George A. Romero, Fritz Lang, David Cronenberg, George Lucas, John Ford, George Pal, John Carpenter, Ray Harryhausen, Peter Jackson, Howard Hawks, 'Beat' Takeshi Kitano, Chan-Wook Park, Takashi Miike, Akira Kurosawa, Ingmar Bergman, Quentin Tarantino, Dario Argento, Ridley Scott, Terry Gilliam, Fracois Truffaut, Martin Scorsese...
Dueling with my love of the auteur is my love of genre. I love trashy Z-grade films with no budget, film noir, horror, science fiction, fantasy, musicals, westerns, boxing movies, documentaries, retro-erotica, gangsters, screwball comedy, short films, cartoons of all sorts, the occasional weepy drama, avante garde, foreign, Kaiju, Samurai, J-Horror, obtuse French films, and many, many more... | | Television | ..The Avengers, Hammer House of Horror, Pee Wee's Playhouse, Boston Legal, Veronica Mars, Heroes, Jericho, John From Cincinnati, Battlestar Galactica (the new series, natch), The Prisoner, Twin Peaks, Blake's 7, Star Trek: TOS, Dragnet, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dave Allen at Large, Tales from the Crypt, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits (Classic), The Tomorrow Show, Space: 1999, Chiller Cinema, any cool musical variety shows, Storyteller, X-Files, Millennium, Batman Animated Series, Justice League, Venture Brothers, Cowboy Bebop, Serial Experiments Lain, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Samurai Champloo, Spaced, Dr. Who (Classic and Modern), 24, Deadwood, Sopranos, Masters of Horror, The Mighty Boosh, Peep Show, Smoking Room, The Office, Brisco County, Lost, more to come!.. | | Books | Comic Books:
Walking Dead, All-Star Batman & Robin, All-Star Superman, House of Mystery, The War That Time Forgot (These are the ones I am currently buying on a continous basis) I led a dual life as a young comic reader by enjoying both Batman and Spiderman equally. I once gave myself a headache by reading teeny tine reprints of Fantastic Four. There was also a classic history of superheroes by Ron Goulart which was very influential. My main comic supplier in the early days was a little used book store next to the Sutler which was run by this guy in a wheelchair and whose name I can't remember. Oh yeah, Walt's Bookstore. Got the whole run of Captain Savage and his Leatherneck Raiders from him. During the mid-eighties I had my comic fix fed by David Dark, who collected many great titles like Swamp Thing, Mighty Thor, Watchmen, Dark Night Returns & American Flagg. I then wandered off into the underground and collected a bunch of Zap! comix & Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers & Weirdo & other stuff by Crumb, Robt. Williams, and others. I once stole a cool Flaming Carrot tshirt from an ex-girlfriend but she stole it back. Oh, and let's not forget those Gladstone reprints of EC comics from the early 90's. Those rocked!! Now I pretty much love anything by Alan Moore, Mike Mignola, Neil Gaiman and, well, you get the picture. | | Heroes | WeeGee |
