SENSUAL OVERFLOW (The Monastery)
text: Jenny Eve van den Arend 2009 (translated from the french)
Is life only made up of suffering and disillusions? Such an intense past has turned me into a nun lost in a cold monastery. I sometimes embody women with tragic fates. Everyday I am pierced by pain. I am walled in within that fortress of sadness. Pieces of music are my sorrow sisters in this maze of endless halls with padlocked doors.
A melody half-opens one of these, arousing signs of gentle emotions. My heart beats anew, my body is borne by a sensual wave. Is that possible? Am I in the realm of reality or of illusion? Life seems to take over my existence again.
The monastery is becoming other...
STAR-WINDS (Fungi from Yuggoth)
text: H.P.Lovecraft 1929
It is a certain hour of twilight glooms,
Mostly in autumn, when the star-wind pours
Down hilltop streets, deserted out-of-doors,
But shewing early lamplight from snug rooms.
The dead leaves rush in strange, fantastic twists,
And chimney-smoke whirls round with alien grace,
Heeding geometries of outer space,
While Fomalhaut peers in through southward mists.
This is the hour when moonstruck poets know
What fungi sprout in Yuggoth, and what scents
And tints of flowers fill Nithon's continents,
Such as in no poor earthly garden blow.
Yet for each dream these winds to us convey,
A dozen more of ours they sweep away!

EPITAPH (In the Court of the Crimson King)
text: Peter Sinfield 1969
The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams.
Upon the instruments of death
The sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
when silence drowns the screams.
Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying
Between the iron gates of fate,
The seeds of time were sown,
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known;
Knowledge is a deadly friend
If no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools.
DEMI-MONDAINE (The Monastery)
text: Jenny Eve van den Arend 2009 (translated from the french)
She thinks.....
She is alone with her even.
Nevertheless there is so agitation around her.
Noises
Words
Laugter
Shouts
She hears nothing more , she sees nothing more.
She thinks....
Her life is only a façade.
A façade made luxury , lust , sensual pleasure.
A fragile façade as glass.
A façade built to escape to a miserable fate.
But this façade is breaking , she feels , she knows , it's inexorable....
she don't escape her fate....
ANTARCTOS (Fungi from Yuggoth)
text: H.P.Lovecraft 1929
Deep in my dream the great bird whispered queerly
Of the black cone amid the polar waste;
Pushing above the ice-sheet lone and drearly,
By storm-crazed aeons battered and defaced.
Hither no living earth-shapes take their courses,
And only pale auroras and faint suns
Glow on that pitted rock, whose primal sources
Are guessed at dimly by the Elder Ones
.
If men should glimpse it, they would merely wonder
What tricky mound of Nature's build they spied;
But the bird told of vaster parts, that under
The mile-deep ice-shroud crouch and brood and bide.
God help the dreamer whose mad visions shew
Those dead eyes set in crystal gulfs below!
THE PROMISE (The Monastery)
text: Jenny Eve van den Arend / Rhea Tucanae 2009
Come , come closer so that I can give you a kiss
The child offers her cheek , a kiss will be planted
A soft kiss
I am solitary in my monastery and an icon on the wall of his cell
Where are you ? I'm looking for you
I can't see you.....You are far away...
My eyes closed , in a dream,
in my monastery , my mouth offered to you
I am beginning to desire a kiss...
To desire carresses...
To desire to be loved...
I was alone in my cell,
I was looking for you, but you were far away
My eyes were closed, i was lost in a dream
All this darkness , was drowning me
Come closer, give me that kiss
Open your door, to your paradise
You gave me hope, you gave me trust
You are my promise and i am yours....
