I am basically single minded, focused, and driven. It is MUSIC. Creating it, making it, nurturing it, performing it, recording it and writing it. It is who I am and will always be. I don't have a choice - and frankly would choose this even if I did.
Music
Every style - with a special weakness for songs that bring an amazing voice, outstanding innovative lyric and well delivered music. Multiple albums underway right now simultaneously: Blind Crisis' Hot Little Box (Rock), MWR and the Bootlegger's Keep on Diggin' (Country) and Sixty-Eight Seasons "Audiobiography" (Alternative Pop Rock) as well as a SInger/Songwriter album of my own for all the stuff no one else would sing (yet) :). I also work with hip hop and rap artists, bluegrass and americana, blues and jazz, classical and avant-garde artists. Good music just IS. It is not a single style. Color outside the lines folk - the canvas is huge, and painted all beige? well that just plain sucks...:)

Old B/W films that didnt deliver dialog between special effects crashes but sucked you in with character, plot, your own mind... there are some new films that do this as well and for those writers and directors I applaud your subversion of the dominant paradigm.
Television
Not into it for more than background noise and an occassional couple minutes to check on a band, race or game. ok - I admit I do have an SG-1 addiction that I am recovering from, but that's it... well ok... there's Atlantis as well but THAT's it... and Law and Order... but THAT is absolutely it... and Skin-A-Max latenight for bad plot and dialog entertainment... lol :)

When I get a chance to read - and she shares what she is writing ;P my favorite author is of course Traci Lazenby-Elliott then in no particular order, Tolkien, Bradbury, Steinbeck, Faulkner, Joyce, Burns, Emerson, Confucious, Buddha, Gandhi, and Jesus some of the authors of choice.
Heroes
I have one main hero - My grandfather.
When I was young I thought he gave up on his career and dreams as a musician and artist to get a day job and raise the four of us after they had already raised their family. When I was older, in my arrogance I forgave him for doing so. Now when I realized it was his forgiveness I should ask to receive, for my being such an arrogant fool, he is already gone.... Get it right as quickly as you can. You just never know.
My other heroes are those that are dedicated and committed to what they believe in, deal intelligently, fairly and bluntly. Those who seek to improve the human condition and are unafraid to stand up and speak out, to stand their ground. I admire passion and don't think you can truly succeed in life without it.

Blind Crisis
I lead a pretty busy insane and some say, full life. I'm a songwriter, bass player, piano player, musician, studio owner, recording engineer, record label owner; Graphic designer, software application developer, horrible golfer with a u-turn slice; Occasionally lucky fisherman; Lover of Jagermeister and a great beer as well a great bottle of wine; Blessed dad for two amazing, smart and funny boys; Somehow worthy of the love of a wonderful and talented artist who shares her world with me.
It's sometimes tough living out loud, but the alternative is unacceptable. I have given up on perfect and work now towards peace :)
IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT THE MUSIC
I have had the good fortune to be able to - and at times be forced to - follow my dreams, touring and performing everywhere from in front of just a lonely bartender in a dive club to tens of thousands under the big lights; both of which sucked and rocked at different times. It is amazing how that works - always surprises you - It is all about what's inside you and how driven you are to express it as a musician :)
There are no strangers in this world, only friends we have yet to meet - so if I send you an invite, and you respond back with "Do I Know You?" I will most likely not bother responding and leave it up to you whether you step out of your comfort zone and into a broader reality or not. No pressure - they have plenty of paint for that pretty little box if you prefer to live in it :)
I've been a musician and songwriter all my life. I make it a point to celebrate talent and commitment to one's art and support that in my friends however I can. Music and art is not a careeer choice, it is who are. You can no more "give it up" as you can stop breathing.
