THE GROWTH PROJECT 2.0 CD RELEASE PARTY REVIEW:
The show was AMAZING! We had an extremely diverse group come out and had a lot of representation by young buks from group homes. Anjel Newmann was amazing! She made the food happen, she promoted, she made calls, she took on so much, this couldn't have happened without her! Kat came through with our video needs at the drop of a dime, thank you thank you thank you. Marybee went beyond the call of duty to help promote and had an amazing performance. Owen Muir just set up his carmera willing and took, with no doubt, amazing pictures of the show. Alex Baptista made a Music Video for "This One Goes Out", not some 'ol low budget fake looking thing, It is a real deal piece of ART! Who Dem? and Rhodeshow Alum, Shane Lee ripped it. Joey Beats has made himself so available to the rhodeshow with his art and providing that extra creditable to our product, he was amazing and this will not be the last time that we work together!
Between the food, the line up and the promo of ten free CDs to the first ten paying customers, we had the house packed by 8:30pm. We sold a lot of CDs and left an impression! I am so proud of all Rhodeshow (Anjel, Amber, Andre, Michelle, Akinola, Randolph, Vega, Robert, Awesome!, Roger, ABap and Rex) and their ability to be themselves and share their personalities on stage and through their music!

THE GROWTH PROJECT 2.0 REVIEWS:
The content is a little different as well. While the first record felt like a debut record, with declarative statements about who the young rappers were and what they were about, this disc feels like a second record — a collection of songs by a group who has done it before and knows they can do it again.
So while there are earnest slice-of-life tracks such as the leadoff "Be Me," by Michelle Mancone, and "This One Goes Out," by Mancone and Anjel Newmann, there's also the battle rhyme "You Ain't Nothing," by Randolph Placide and Gonzalez, the romantic "Love So Divine" by Newmann and the harrowing "36 Hours," by Joshua Vega.
- The Providence Journal (05/29/08):
The Growth Project 2.0 is no after-school rehab special or corny 13-track Just Say No commercial; the Rhodeshow troupe lives the lyrics and rocks the mic with a nonchalant confidence and fluid, streetwise delivery without glorifying the negative choices surrounding young people.

-The Providence Phoenix
"The big push from the latest talking heads is designed for nothing more than to ensure a good outing -no matter the true outcome. The Rhode Show's dedication, limiltess talent, and relentless pursuit of an original live performance is what ultimately ensures their success. Fortunately, they have no cushion of a press push; instead prove show after show such pre talk is cheap and there's really only one time to shine above the rest."
-Joey Beats, Producer of Strategery, Diverse Recourse, Indie Rock Blues, Hopestrumentals, Hope, and Reverse Discourse.
“The Rhodeshow represents the heart and soul of the best of hip hop: creative young people honestly and thoughtfully engaging their worlds-- beginning with the self, but ending with community. The Rhodeshow is a powerful model for the progressive and funky future of hip hop.”
-Tricia Rose, author of Black Noise: Rap Music and Black Culture in Contemporary America (1994) and forthcoming in 2008, The Hip Hop Wars.
“While much of the Hip-Hop you can hear on the radio is, at best, intriguing pop, the music of the Rhodeshow inherits the genres best traditions- personal perspectives on life as it’s lived here and now … the Rhodeshow hit with a performance that was not only rehearsed and tight, but filled with the urgency of performing to an audience of peers, with material that strikes at their own lives.”
