Rhona Bennett; a name that is known via many facets of the Entertainment Industry, has proven to be a continuous talent-force to be reckoned with.
Rhona (“Miss R&B”) has been in the entertainment business, professionally since the age of 12. Her first big break came from the inspiring Oprah Winfrey, on ABC’s TV series “The Women of Brewster’s Place”. Shortly after, Rhona joined the Disney team & became a Mouseketeer with the likes of Justin Timberlake, JC Chavez, Keri Russell, Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling & Christina Aguilera.
Her journey then led to Hollywood. There she appeared in several television shows including many successful series such as, “Living Single” with Queen Latifah; “Martin” with Martin Lawrence; and “Second Time Around” with Nicole Ari Parker and Boris Kodjoe. Her most memorable role was her character ‘Nicole’, singing jingles on the “The Jaime Foxx Show”….. a lot of you remember “Plaaaaaaain whiiite riiiice!” Yes, that was Rhona!
On the film side, Rhona Bennett has appeared in the motion pictures - “Malibu’s Most Wanted” and “No Vacancy”. In her tenure, she’s also appeared in stage plays such as “Men Cry in the Dark” (a reflection of the very popular Michael Baisden novel) co-starring with Allen Payne and Richard Roundtree; and most recently in the acclaimed stage production “Love Overboard” (2009), co-starring with such names as Carl Payne, Khalil Kain, Miguel Nunez, and recording artist Avant. Musically, she has also contributed to the soundtrack of the award winning motion picture “Akeelah and the Bee”, co-writing “Let your baby go”.
Rhona Bennett is a true ‘recording artist’ in every sense of the word. As an established recording artist, Rhona is known foremost as the “First Lady of Darkchild”, having been the first female recording artist on producer Rodney Jerkins “Darkchild/Epic/Sony” record label. There she released her debut solo album titled –“Rhona” (2001), which topped charts and shipped ‘Gold’ to Japan, and as well topped the charts in the U.K. and other European nations. Shortly thereafter, Rhona was sought out to fill a void in the female R&B super-group “En Vogue”, remaining a longstanding member of the group for over half of a decade (2003 -2008), in which time they released the album – “Soul Flower”, on which she wrote and co-wrote material. Her music career has given her the opportunity to travel the world; recording and performing, and ultimately preparing her for her latest venture:
In 2008, Rhona Bennett began preparing to write and record her latest album project – “The Anticipation of R&B”; a long awaited project by many in the industry and the consumer public. Upon forming the songwriting & production company “Tone N Rhone” with songwriter/producer/music executive Tony Scott Zubia, she set forth, and has now completed her latest project in which she wrote and co-wrote the record with Zubia, and served as Album Producer / Executive Producer, with him as well. “Anticipation” features a well balanced roster of Urban based ballads, mid-tempos, and up tempos that are fitting for every nook of the Urban and Pop radio formats. Her music and style has already been coined - 'Neo-R&B'. With feature performances by En Vogue’s Terry Ellis and Cindy Herron-Braggs, the Grammy Award winning diva Brandy, and G Unit's "40 GLOCC"; this project is sure to follow the success of Rhona’s longstanding impeccable track record and career. “R” & “B” is back! ....Rhona Bennett
