In a style reminiscent of George Winston, Seattle-based pianist/composer Rhonda Mackert draws in listeners with her evocative, heartfelt compositions, leading them to a place of peace and tranquility. As written by Paul Gentry of Sockspider Reviews, her music "stands on its own beauty and touches every emotion... It’s the heart beating behind the keyboard that makes her music special to any listener."
As a child, Rhonda studied piano for a few years before changing her musical focus to the flute. As an adult, she moved back to the piano where she found greater freedom of expression. Her piano compositions are largely a reflection of her personal journey, taking inspiration from her spiritual life, relationships and the beauty and mystery of nature. She has often been told her music “paints pictures” and “tells stories”.
In response to requests from friends and family, Rhonda recorded and released her debut CD, "When the Moon Cries" in the fall of 2007. It has been featured and receives ongoing airplay and has recently been nominated for the 2009 Just Plain Folks award for Best Album, Solo Piano category. Rhonda is planning to start recording her next CD in the fall of 2009.
Rhonda has performed at private residences, Borders Book Stores and community events as well as having written and played original compositions for several weddings.
Dear Rhonda, Thank you very much for your nice words of encouragement: this new project is, for sure, the most important of my musical life: so, I'm spending the best of my energies to "create" something beautiful, to give some true emotions to the people who, hopefully, will listen... Thank you again, sincerely!!! Martino
Thanks Rhonda for your comment. I've been listening to your tracks and love what I'm hearing. Good luck to you, and I hope we can meet someday when next I get up to the Northwest. Was up there about a year and a half ago. Sisters, OR folk fest, and the Tractor in Seattle. LOVE the NW. B

"In the process of seeing and understanding, one acts at the very moment of this direct perception, in which, the immediate action is the act of Sacred Emptiness in the present, here and now, and the immediate direct result is the Perfect Enlightenment!"
