My name is Jon Kowalsky, and I am the founder of the website Studio120 (the “Studio”). The Studio is an independent music community that gives artists more revenue streams and enables fans to discover new music. It is currently scheduled for launch August 2012. Artist’s profiles act as an ecommerce platform to make revenue from individual downloads, music subscription, and physical products.
Studio120’s innovative concept uses fans and the cause of music education as a marketing force for the artist’s music. Fans are able to act as promoters for independent artists on their own profile pages by making a 5% sharing commission doing what they love, which is sharing new independent music with their friends. Another method we will use to promote independent music utilizes music education charity as a promotion network for independent music–investing in future independent artists. The idea is that for every download sold, the studio will donate music education materials and instruments to schools.
