Artist Statement:
My art is a direct expression of internal and reflective external spaces, as I see them. The intent of my work is to pull together all the elemental puzzle pieces available through my perceptual process. I then enfold those fragments into an expressive narration of spirit, movement, and pattern via oil paint. Space both internal and external, is a personal and metaphoric focus – generating memory, ideas, and creative flow.

My abstract work is an expression of my lifelong fascination with the interaction of light and color and the impact of both on the perception of the individual. My wish is to create a level of fluidity and depth in the pattern of the paint so that my work can “speak” and engage on their own, the imagination and whimsy of the viewer.

I have developed over the last fifteen years a technique that I refer to as “Subtractive Abstraction” which involves the layering and removal of paint to create dimension and light.

My pen and ink and watercolors are a whimsical and playful expression of the dialog between my heart and mind.

My collage / multi-media work is a spontanious interaction of discovery using universal elements of color, line, sound, pattern and texture. They are conceptual experiments with: the ephemeral, language, symbols, threads of information and inspiration which are then expressed through the use of a wide aray of Melange, organic and inorganic elements and mediums.

My work is the overlapping of the influence of my own form with the mysterious, the sensuous, and the unsettling. So come join me on the edge.

Unravels from an ocean
Of conformity
Wrung out of burnt sand
Her voice touches tongue to eyelids
Touches all the shapes of her vision
Words and color forming
In great brilliant letters
Written upon the walls of a silent heart
Small treasures quivering
Makes heart dream
Makes heart sing

Who I'd like to meet:

New friends who are awake, inquisitive, playful, seeking and open. Other Artists and adventurers who take into consideration what they contribute to this world with much thought. Dreamers who bring other realms into play. As well as, continued contact with new and estabished friends, who inspire and support my work, and allow me to celebrate and support what they are creating. And lastly, to reach out and be a part of a global community of individuals committed to learning, growing and actively creating in a kalidiscope of different mediums and ways. I ask: teach me something new today.... -R

    House Across the Street

On countless days I'd seen him
In the sunshine and the rain
Mowing his yard - going to work
    Or driving down his lane.

Not once had I stopped to say hello
Or give him the time of day
The man who lived next door to me
Whom I saw from day to day.

I knew nothing of his family
Vaguely aware he had a spouse
He was only just a neighbor
Who lived in the big white house.

    Perhaps, someday in the future
I'd take the time to greet
The man who shared the block with me
In the house across the street.

A couple of years had come and gone
I kept thinking that I might
Go over and say hello to him
But the time was never right.

    It wasn't until tragedy struck
That I even cared to meet
The man who died so suddenly
In the house across the street.

I said a prayer for his family
As I watched them drive away
    Wanting to bring them comfort
But not knowing what to say.

So let this be a lesson
Please take the time to greet
The ones who live next door to you
In the house across the street.

    A treasure to be cherished,

    A gift from God above;

Is the beauty of a friendship,

    Touched by unconditional love.

A love that asks no questions,

    Believes in all the best;

    Never doubting, ever trusting,

    Withstanding any test.

A love that weathers any storm,

    And yet that love still stands;

    Through the very darkest

    Don't Ever Grow Too Old....

Don't ever grow too old for birthdays,
Fun-things that you used to do,
Don't give up your dreams because you
Feel that they have not come true.

Don't forget the sound of laughter,
Or the love in someone's eyes,
    Don't trade memories for pleasures,
All that in a moment dies.

Don't give up your zest for living,
Saying you are much too old,
Is this what you feel, or is it
Something that you have been told?

There's a valley deep within us,
    Where there is eternal Spring,
Where there is no sound of sorrow,
    And the birds forever sing.

Though your gait is not as steady,
Now as once it used to be,
    And your vision's clouding over
Things you used to clearly see,

Do not let the weight of decades,
    Turn you into bitter gall,
For with age there comes a wisdom,
That's a blessing to us all.

Hold your years up like a banner,
Wave it brightly in the sun,
When folks tell you life is over,
Tell them it has just begun.

    The Spirit Within

Author unknown, ( but isn’t this so very beautiful, love milla xx)

Whispers that gently touch my soul
Are those I love to hear
For I know it's the Holy Spirit
    Whispering, "I am always near."

Because I know He dwells within
    I am peaceful and content
    For when I accepted Jesus
The Spirit to me He sent.

He was sent to light my way
To comfort and calm my soul
I know He'll always be with me
    Just as my Lord foretold.

My Jesus couldn't stay on earth
He died on the cross for me
He had to fulfill His Father's plan
To rise and set me free.

He knew I would need a helper
To face life's trials and pain
He promised to send a Comforter
And into my heart He came.

The spirit of Him is always here
    Within my heart and soul
    It's a comfort to know He's near
He was sent to make me whole.
