Play drumset and/or percussion with several bands, the primary two at present being Os Magrelos and Beleza Brasil. Mantis sings/speaks original words and plays original music. I do most of the playing and all of the recording. I have published a book of poems called 'Taking On Barbed Wire', available through my website.
Started playing drums at age 10 after watching a drummer solo as a train rolled by in the background. It had very little to do with the drum solo and as little to do with the particular train. Began writing verse a few years later, hoping to get closer to the effect of that passing train. Started playing guitar as torn tendons rendered me unable to play drums. Continued singing after falling asleep to spoken words.
Maria Faia is on fire with Blue Ridge Mountains in the mix. Hope the grapevines give some fresh insight into laughs, tears, the in between ... THIS IS SO MATT WYATT, YOU ARE A NATURAL BORN POET. LOVE Jose Maria
