It would be easier to list different genres so here we go...Disco, 70's & 80's Funk, RnB, Jazz & Electronic, Rock & pop, 80's Electro, Rap(from 83 to 95...not feeling most of the other shit that came out after)! 80's US & UK House(that's all i played on my personal stereo at school)! Detroit Techno, Acid House(still love this shit)! 70's to '85 Reggae(lost it's way after this), Gospel(ohh them church days)! New Romantic, 80's & 90's Soul, House n Garage('91 till present)...
Rhythmbox is a musical experience providing quality grooves. The sole member goes by the name DJ DK (Derek King). DK has been involved with music production and deejaying for over 15 years. He started buying records in the middle 80’s and boasts a solid collection of serious grooves ranging from rock to reggae!
DK was raised listening to reggae and gospel then flipped to the electro/ hip-hop sound in the early 80’s, this lead to warehouse, funk, soul and house which has dominated ever since. All of these influences are projected into his music and this is the style you will hear if you ever get the chance to see him grace the decks.
DK started deejaying & developed most of his skills on the hiphop/ soul scene back in the early 90's under his hip hop alias DJ Double X , he released a line of mix tapes (Double Mix Vol. 1-13) which were a instant hit in the record shops!
DK was part of the successful hip hop outfit Moorish Delta 7 but went solo as his love for house music took over.The bookings came flooding in as he pursued down the dj route, he graced the decks at some of the Midlands & other prestigeous UK venues his diary included regular bookings from - The Que Club, Marco Polo's, The Hush, SLAG, Moneypenny's, The Steering Wheel, Soba Bar, The Circo Bar, 52 Degree's North, Venus(Manchester), Elemental(Manchester & Bolton), Hanger 17(Liecester), Fuel, Peach(Plymouth), Release The Groove, Moets(Kidderminster), Careys(Coventry), The Planet(Coventry), Ace Of Clubs(Stoke On Trent), The Light Bar, Canal Club, Filter(Derby), Custard Factory, Hidden plus others...
DK also hosted a popular Sunday show on Midlands Underground FM 107 where he would sometimes mix it up on 3 decks!
DK's skillz also lead him to entertain the club hungry crowds in Los Americas - Tenerife & he also produced & presented radio show - The Mixx for local radio Walsall FM & Bridge FM...
Although producing unaccredited tracks & remixing with other artists over the years, DK is now concentrating on solo production & remix projects under his Rhythmbox guise…
