Influences
Music is a vast system of work. The influences of thousands of song writers and players have been felt and absorbed over the period of a lifetime. It would be unfair to express any specific influences, and in fact... in the development of the music style of any player it is the basic intent to not sound like another performer, but to sound like ones self. Therefore, I have not ever attempted to learn a guitar solo of another artist, for that belongs to he or she and is not to be copied. After all, artists who have become well known have essentially become so because of their uniqueness. It is the idea of art, to be art not a copy, like for example a photo of something someone else has done.
Sounds Like
As in all are the intent is not to sound or try to appear like someone else, but to be one's self. However, everyone learns from and acquires ideas and parts of their style from others along the path of development. We believe that it is better to at least attempt to not mimic the work of others in as much as it is possible, and to just create "new" as best you can. Hey! I'm back from the tour, and i made a little video of some of the highlights of 2006....complete with an encounter i had with a Japanese toilet!!
