Interests

  • General

Not in any particular order, Sarcasm. Making stuff. Making art. Collecting art. Cartoons. Toys. Office supplies. Porcines (the kind you love, not the kind you eat). Canines. Singing at the top of my lungs in my car with the windows rolled up.
  • Music

drum and bass, jungle, trance, ambient, britpop, old school punk. classical. jazz. r&b. soul. anything but happy-clappy god music or country and western. both make my head wanna spin off at the neck.
  • Movies

Cheesy old prescient movies like the Doris Day/Rock Hudson stuff. So gay! RKO movies, especially dancing stuff. Anything remotely connected with Bob Fosse. Musicals. Valley of the Dolls. I Stay at home to watch films because theatres are dark, people talk during the movies and eat and drink. Don't really dig that; it's not good form. Netflix, TCM, IFC are good outlets for me. Bottom line: if I want to be depressed, I will watch the news. If I want to be entertained, I will watch something mindless/funny/entertaining.
  • Television

Some sci-fi, just about everything on BBC America, comedy central, cartoon network [adult swim], animation/cartoons, i HATE reality telly. can't bear it.
  • Books

Love English writers. I've read almost every book by PG Wodehouse and lots of Evelyn Waugh. Like the mysteries as well. David Sedaris is good...but I don't think he's funny like the rest of the world; his writing hits to close to home. I read books on communication, business, meditation, buddha, yoga, design, art, typography, more design, more art.
  • Heroes

Of family, my parents are at the top of the list, followed closely by my husband, sister and her twin boys. I have some professors/teachers that I will always remember -- Viola Frey, Art Nelson, Gertrude Schaufel, and Marilyn Britton. I also have a few MD/PhD friends who have gotten me through all sorts: Bill Hartman, Edwyne Nazarian, Stephen Drew, Bob and John Rabkin. My personal trainer, Jeff McMullen,
