Ricardo Tampier (b. Santiago, Chile, 1980) Musical composer and producer, and classic and electric guitar performer. Ricardo started studying guitar in 1994 with Miguel Ángel Burgos (of Barroco Andino). In 1999 he went on to study with Jorge Vidal in one of Chile’s foremost Music schools, the Escuela Moderna de Música later moving on to study at the Escuela Internacional de Música Projazz in 2001 where he graduated with a degree in Music Studies and Guitar Performance in 2005. Ricardo continued studying music composition with Sebastían Errázuriz and Sebastían Vergara in 2003 and 2004, frequently participating in various classic and electric guitar seminars, including a class on Soundtrack Composition and the Language of Film. In 2007, on a trip to Easter Island (a.k.a. Rapa Nui), Ricardo met Rapanui musicians Alicia Ika and Roberto Pakomio, performing with them regularly in the local circuit and recording with Roberto a CD entitled “O Tatou”. That same year Ricardo traveled to Tahiti, performing in downtown Papeete’s most popular bars, and also to Raivavae in the Austral Island where he shot a classic guitar DVD. In 2008 Ricardo took a course to improve his classic guitar techniques with classical guitar masters Carlos Pérez, Wladimir Carrasco, and Marco Socías all the while continuing his classic guitar studies with Andrés Pantoja. In June 2008, Ricardo’s first soloist CD entitled “Collage” is released receiving rave reviews in the local media as one of Chile’s most promising guitarists. Still alive, but stalled. Looks like Nina and I are separating, so kinda depressed and lost my mojo for the time being. Recorded a bunch of electric guitars, though. More to go, and then record a real drummer. God knows when I'll finish it - it's turning into Chinese Democracy Part II.
