About me:

In fall of '08, after quitting my long-time sales job at the Beacon News, I decided to go back to school to get my teaching degree. I'm currently at Waubonsee, but in fall of '09 I'll be heading to NIU. I'm not sure what I'm going to teach yet, but I'm leaning towards English or art history. I'm in an a cappella based singing group called Eat Your Heart Out with two of the most talented females I know. I've been in rock bands in the past, but I'm really enjoying my return to harmonic bliss. I lived in Las Vegas for a while, and I plan on eventually moving back there. I'd also like to live in New Mexico someday. I love the southwest. Although I like going to bars a couple times a month, I much prefer hanging out at coffee shops and people's homes - you know, places where I can HEAR the conversation I'm involved in. I'm always looking for new coffee partners, so drop me a line if you're up for it. If coffee's not your thang, day trips, long weekends, and off-beat destinations are quite appealing, as well. I have an "on hiatus" travel website at www.theALTERNAtraveler.com. I hope to resume my blogging there once my monetary situation improves, or when I'm finished with school - whichever comes first. I totally accept that life is short, being an atheist and all, so I'd like to make the most of my time before I become worm food... in my opinion, that means surrounding myself with things that make me smile and people who make me happy. I'm a great friend and I try to treat others the way I'd like to be treated, unless they don't deserve it. I'm no push-over. :)
