About me:

RICHARD QUAN is a novelist, a law graduate, and a Killing Fields survivor. Since the day that he was born his country underwent one of history's most tragic political and social revolution. At a young age when most young Americans are learning ABCs, Richard had to abandon his home in the city and was forced to labor in a communist system that had killed millions. In the agricultural commune where Richard labored nights and days he witnessed other children his age underwent psychological and physical tortures. At the outbreak of war when Vietnam invaded Cambodia in the late '70s, Richard witnessed more tragedies unfold as soldiers slaughtered each other and hundreds and thousands of civilians fled the battlefield. His journey was long and adventurous. Since he left Cambodia in the late '70s, he has being in an attempted boat escape in South China Sea; studied International and Human Rights & Refugee Law at Oxford University, studied Psychology at Duke University; studied photography and painting under renowned artists and photographers from the U.S. and/or from Russia; and traveled to the far edge of the earth from the tip of Indochina to the jungle of Mexico to the Great Wall of China. __________________________________________________________________________________ PUBLISHED NOVEL ("SIREN'S SILENCE"): "I named a tree after Siren.
