Visit my blog to keep up with the latest news related to my work. News

I was born in Hull, England in 1962, artfully folded a copy of the Daily Mail into a serviceable boat and followed the bioluminescent dots to Canada shortly thereafter.

My work was influenced from an early age by the classic book illustrators, like Peake, Beardsley, Rackham, Redon and so on. These artist's were my beacons for the richness of their imaginations and the mind blowing skills they possessed. What's more, they did it with supplies I could actually lay my hands on. It was like was like finding someone deep in a woods furtively stamping gold coins out of bottle lids.

My work is also influenced by nature in all its limitless forms, particularly insects and their homes. When I was developing the artistic interests that would eventually land me where I am now, it amazed me that creatures with such incredibly weird, even monstrous, forms coexisted with the ordinary world of schools, gas stations and libraries.

It was perhaps inevitable that my personal artistic explorations led me down that hidden lane known as "the fantastic". I've been hopelessly and happily lost there since.

I work in silverpoint, ink, watercolour and oil paint but like many artists I enjoy experimenting with materials.

Over the past few years I have illustrated a number of books. Samples of work from these projects can be found by clicking on the illustration link at my website

The rogue professor entered the basement at thirteen hundred hours. The walls were coated with a mat black rubber. They absorbed the deep blue lighting shining from multiple lamps placed around the room. There appeared to be a large group1 of individuals standing in a grid formation. They were static. Casting steady shadows upon the floor on which they stood. The professor mingled through them. Observing each one with  scrutiny. Then, rubbing the stubbles on his head he clearly voiced for the lights to rise to medium exposure. A slight hum filled to room as the human features of all present became more obvious in the rising clarity.
