RICHARD BONE (born February 3, 1952 - Atlanta, GA) has been creating music since his early teens. He began his professional musical career creating soundtracks and scores for several off-Broadway companies working in experimental theater. In 1979 he released with his band Bone the single Pirate the Islands/Headlines Have It before joining the legendary new-wave band Shox Lumania in 1981. That same year Richard recorded a 7" called Digital Days/Alien Girl on his own that was picked up by the UK based label Survival Records where he went on to release several LPs, EPs, singles and contribute to various compilation albums. His 1983 single Joy of Radiation reached 1 on the Hong Kong dance music charts.
Richard started Quirkworks Laboratory Discs in 1991 allowing him the freedom to create music of a more experimental nature and remain in control of his musical direction. The next seventeen years would see Richard release over twenty-five recordings of new material, collaborations and compilations. Of the new material recordings, three quickly rose to the 1 placement on industry charts as well as receiving numerous other honors. In 2004 Richard's recording The Reality Temples was nominated for the NAR LifeStyle Music Awards Best Electronic Album, his 2005 recording Saiyuji was nominated for the NAR LifeStyle Music Awards Best Ambient Album and his 2007 recording Infinite Plastic Creation was awarded the NAR LifeStyle Music Awards Best Electronic Album. Most recently his 2008 recording Sudden Departure has been nominated for the NAR Lifestyle Music Awards Best Ambient and Best Electronic Album.
Richard has just completed a new ambient recording called The Ghosts of Hanton Village that will be released September 15, 2009. Upcoming projects include a "Best Of" CD and an as yet untitled digital only release, both to be available on the AD Music label and a film score for a wordless documentary by a German film maker expected to be completed in 2010. There is also a limited edition 10" vinyl of Richard's 1981 recording Alien Girl expected to be released on Apop Records in 2009 as well as talk of a possible future biographical book devoted to Richard's life and musical career compiled by a British author.
