My songs emerged from a state of alienation from my own tribal identity - the place of admitting failure and fallacy. The naked freedom to probe the illusions of who I think I am, and my own sense of righteousness. While warring brothers call each other to decommission, creation cries out for Solomon's wisdom to prevail. Sometimes in life it's better to lose, and sometimes in failure you succeed. Beauty is birthed from the ashes of all you think you're worth. Death is not the end, but only the beginning of new life, a new landscape, (Terra Nova, 2004) and a new way of journeying, (Tents & Altars, 2005). The misery of the 'same old' is more unbearable than walking with the enemy, not matter what the cost. Yet as we walk and talk, unarmed and wounded; new songs are sung, and new battles are won.
