Richard James fronted The Retreat from 1990 to 1996. The Retreat released three critically acclaimed albums. The band were infamous for their live shows and amazing performances around the festival circuit in Europe and the south of England. During this time they supported acts such as Jamiroquai & Radiohead, even headlining the Ostend festival in Belgium with the Jools Holland band.
Recognised for his energetic live performances, Richard has been holed away in Cornwall writing and recording a new 12 track album; "The Maker Tapes". The music draws on influences landing between The Beatles (especially Lennon), Dylan, Bowie, and early Waterboys.
The new Retreat album "The Maker Tapes" is nearly completed and will be mixed in February for a release in July 2008 on Cough Records.
A second Retreat's album will also be released this year and will contain studio, demo's and live performances. Check back for updates.
Hello Richard, Mandy May (Tideford Cross) here. Remember you gigged for my 40th birthday X number of years ago (5 actually, but no longer counting)??? Well we have a crisis and I'm hoping you can help us out, even though I know it's a long shot.
My brother is getting married this Saturday 11 Aug in Tideford and we're having the do at our house. Our dilemma is that the entertainment we had lined up as had to back out at the 11th hour due to serious illness. SO - is there any chance whatsoever you could do a gig for us on Saturday evening?
PLEASE GIVE ME A CALL, EVEN IF YOU CAN'T HELP, AS WE NEED TO GET SOMETHING SORTED AS A MATTER OF URGENCY. I'M ON 07816 250639.
The Subterraneans, influenced by Jack Johnson, Ben Harper and the John Butler Trio now have their music for sale for only 79p per track. Please follow the link below.
