Richard John Thompson is a singer/songwriter from Newcastle-upon-Tyne who performs both acoustically and with his full backing band.
To date, Richard has released two full length albums (2003’s ‘Hidden Daylight’ and 2006’s ‘Illogical Life’) and a 4-track ‘Acoustic Sessions EP’ (released in 2007). The EP features acoustic versions of tracks from his two full-band albums. A new full band EP is scheduled for release in summer 2009 (date TBC), containing 6 brand new tracks. Richard describes the EP as "a return to a rootsy sound, led by acoustic guitars, edging towards a modern blues record".
Over the past three years, Richard has supported artists such as The Proclaimers, Sandi Thom, Gabriella Cilmi, Ultravox, Midge Ure (UK and German tours), Deacon Blue, John Martyn, Duke Special, David Ford, Polly Paulusma, Geno Washington and Alexander O’Neal.

Hello there! hope your well, I am playing at Hoko 10 on the 12th of november and the bridge hotel on the 18th! please come a long! - would love to see you there!
Hey! How's the weather over there? I just want to let you know that i'm coming to the UK in late May/early June to play bass with Kevin Montgomery and Tommy Allsup. Tommy played guitar with Buddy Holly, and is THE guy that flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens. I figured that with you being a musician that you would really be able to appreciate this show. Kevin made a little video at my studio last week while we were recording....check it out http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=34589518 There are a series of shows in England and Scotland....dates are on my myspace. We won't be doing my material, but it is a really special show, and Tommy is a true rock'n'roll legend. Anyway, take care and hope to see you there. DW
