Richard Gannaway grew up in St. Louis, MO and began his music career as a touring folk musician, then moved to Los Angeles as a composer in 1986. In the early nineties Richard co-founded the rock group Tiger & the Helix with Andy Georges and Mike Lawrence, producing the 1994 album 'Peace Face'. After touring throughout Western Europe and Canada Richard founded the acclaimed world/new age project, AOMUSIC (also known as AO) in 1996, recording on his small indie label Arcturian Gate. The project is co-produced by legendary jazz keyboardist Jay Oliver, singer Miriam Stockley (the renowned voice of 'Adiemus') and Bollywood film score composer, Sandeep Chowta. The sound is extraordinarily rhythmic and cinematic, which earned AOMUSIC an invitiation to compose theme music for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. LITERARY WORKS
Since the AOMUSIC project began, Richard has written three books; '...and Love Rages On (Riding the White Water of Our Evolution)', 'Drops and Sparks (Proof That Love Created the Universe)' and 'Refreshing the Moment (Keeping Our Appointment with Evolution)' They contain insights that inspire the vision behind the music. The books illustrate how the components of beauty (music, color, form and movement) convey nature's most fundamental message—unity; which is the driving principle behind the AOMUSIC project.
SACRED ART
Richard began creating images with sacred geometry in the mid nineties as a way to understand it in more depth. "The beauty of sacred geometry is how it draws you in to a whole universe of harmonic balance and symmetry." "Nesting the shapes with fractal blooms perfectly models the illusion of randomness in nature, and that opened for me, a world of possibility for creative exploration."
The primary influence behind the vision of AOMUSIC is universal coherence. For that reason, he chose sacred geometry, nested with fractals in the album graphics.
"The Flower of Life grid and the Golden Spiral are used extensively, and no matter how complex the image is, the FOL grid connects everything in an eloquent harmonic structure."
