Richard Morris is a musician and audio mastering engineer living in Highlands, NJ and working in New York City.
He began playing guitar at age eleven and has been at it since, adding instruments along the way. His influences have gone from rock and blues to bluegrass, old-time, jazz, reggae, pop and world music.
Richard spent five years at Sterling Sound, learning the craft of mastering from Greg Calbi, one of the most respected and sought-after engineers in the field. With Greg, he had a hand in the production of albums by Iron and Wine, Norah Jones, Son Volt, Laura Cantrell, The Hold Steady, Dinosaur Jr., Bad Brains, Branford Marsalis, etc..
He is now working from the studio of trusted veteran engineer, Scott Hull, (John Mayer, Mercury Rev, Panic at The Disco, John Zorn). Scott has just acquired MASTERDISK (at 545 W. 45th St.), former home of his mentor, Bob Ludwig. The new staff of engineers is already settled in. Please come by to look and listen!

As a member of the eleven-piece M Shanghai String Band, Richard produced and mixed the group's self-penned albums, "Up From The Ground Below" and "From The Air". He contributes to their famously engaging live performances in the old-time style around a single microphone, playing some just-left-of-bluegrass mandolin and singing his heart out.
Richard mastered the songs featured on this page.
