Songwriter Richard Stooksbury was born and raised in east Tennessee, travelled the country, and now makes his home in Nashville.
His two CDs, "Richard Stooksbury" and "South" have garnered attention and praise from music critics, Djs, and listeners from Alaska to Croatia. His songs have been featured on many folk and americana radio programs in the US and in Europe, as well as being featured nationally in the US on National Public Radio's "Car Talk" program.
His work has been compared to Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Eric Taylor, and Sam Baker. While those comparisons are grand and would seem flattering; Stooksbury's songs have a style all their own. They are very place and character driven...culled from many years of travels, as well as many years being exposed to the hardships, trials, and triumphs of the rural south. Through a distinct and seemingly familiar voice, Stooksbury takes the listener into a world that is at once old and new.

Richard Stooksbury - Join us in congratulating record producer Kim Copeland for her work on the Rachel Williams album, Lonely At The Bottom. Check this great review by R.K. Oermann with Music Row Magazine on Rachel's current single, The Only Thing Harder Than Leaving.
"She has the goods. This creeps up on you with cat’s paws. The languid pace, echoing instruments, spacious production and her hushed, aching delivery are all immensely seductive. The lyric of leaving home is full of terrific details. And her falsetto leaps in the bridge are like little daggers to the heart. A mini masterpiece. This, by the way, is the third single in a row that I have raved about from this performer. "
Hope you have a good show tomorrow night man, sorry I won't be able to grace douglas corner with my presence. Going back to God's country for the weekend.
Thanks for the add and sorry that we couldn't make it out to see you guys last night. As I told you last time I saw you, I listen to your music at least once a day. Keep up the great work and we look forward to seeing you guys soon. (side note) You must have really been influenced by Bill Morrissey, you listed him twice.
