just me a guitar or two, a piano , a low whistle and a bodhran added in for good measure!
Influences
I love the rootsy kind of music- kate rusby, the greencards, suzanne vega, carmina, the morgantown rounders, nanci griffiths, alison krauss... to name but a few.... but the music i write doesn't seem to sound anything like the music i like to listen to... strange that......I also love the flute playing of Conal O Grada, and Aoife Granville- I want to learn the flute- maybe starting in the next month or so....
I also found out recently that my great grandad played the harp for royalty- (see photo)
Sounds Like
i’ve no idea who or what i sound like, i don’t know what people make of it really-i do hope some people like it............

I tend to 'doodle' a lot , usually on my piano or guitar. Every now and again some pattern of notes grabs my attention, and I try and delve deeper , working with the mood or feeling that these patterns of notes suggest. As I start to construct a piece of music, I find that it conjures up images in my head. I love the feeling of getting completely caught up in a new musical idea that I am working on. I am currently learning the low whistle and bodhran and I am tentatively trying to include them into new pieces. I love discovering new artists on myspace music, and find them a constant source of inspiration. Thanks everyone!
I am thrilled that some of my music is to be used in a documentary about a region of Spain- Navarra- more details can be found on
www.vascones.org/
I have also included a short youtube video from this collaboration.
The black and white photos are part of a photography project about urban wildlife , - I have tried to capture some of the beauty, shapes and patterns found in plants I come across as I find mself wandering around Windmill Hill- normally with two wee knippers in tow! I used black and white to accentuate the patterns and shapes, without too much distraction from lots of colours.Hope you like them!

Hello Rich, nice of you drop by. Yes I'm a bit of an early bird. Wasn't always so but changes come and go as they say! I'm busying myself with a wonderful series of guitar lessons on Jamplay. com and tend to try to do that first thing. The light is changing and Autumn has unfurled her sails. It's so beautiful early in the day. So enjoy yours over there in England and don't forget.... the rains only out there... SHINE Alan
