Began playing jazz drums at 13 and writing music for his high school wind and percussion ensembles. First rock recording project was an indie cassette of cover tunes called 'The St Valentines Day Massacre' w/ his first rock band, The Ants. Opted for university and studied percussion, composition, electronic music and interdisciplinary art-making.
Enjoys being an independent artist/producer - focus on creativity, self-expression, and authenticity. Most important is collective collaboration and exploring different methods, approaches and techniques of the creative process. Also does this by teaching a couple of courses in creativity and music technology at Wilfrid Laurier University.
Stylistically best known for lush, spatial arrangements, electronically processed/treated percussion and other acoustic sound sources. Also works with real-time audio and video processing systems.
Martin Denton's review of the most recent Bluemouth show entitled - "What the Thunder Said" - referred to Richard Windeyer as "a veritable magician with sound".
Hey Windeyer you have a nice sound and you're from our home town! Have you ever gone to the Ambient Ping? I'll try to check out one of your shows at the Drake. Thanks for the request!
