Mainly I listen to The Beatles, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Donovan, Rufus Wainwright, Bob Dylan and Pixies.
I read alot of Charles Bukowski, George Orwell, Hunter S Thompson, F. Scott Fitzgerald , Bret Easton Ellis, Ernest Hemingway and Fyodor Dostyevski.
My favourite films are Withnail and 'I', Taxi Driver, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Alfie 1966 version obviously, The Libertine, True Romance and Rumblefish.
Oh and I sometimes I watch Comedy Central, G.O.L.D. and channel 4.
Hello, I'm Richard Dilks drunken singer/songwriter extraordinaire... I play vaugly sarcastic folk songs, I try not to take myself too seriously but at the same time veer away from stupid fun-time or piss take songs.
I am fully aware you need a fair amount of ego to be a solo artist. Either that or a lack of friends.
I'm still not sure which I one of these I fall under.
I have myself a nice little band called The Cuckoo's Nest & 'I' we'll soon be playing in and around everywhere so keep an ear out. Sam Packwood the other singer in the band writes some amazing songs, if you get time check out "Do you need it" it's brilliant!
I live in a house in Chesterfield with my girlfriend and I work in a pub. I like Northern Soul and occasionally I like to get drunk and act stupid. This usually happens before I play a gig, which isn't too good for my reputation.
Also, I think everyone should own a copy of Rubber Soul by The Beatles.
my email address is bobthedylan@hotmail.com email me and then i'll email you back the songs. You ever listen to bright eyes still? i had just had some on for the first time in over a year. Bloody good x
Well would you mind playing 2 days in a row? Alsop says it would be ok, its kind of like a residencey!! Yeah well we'll have to have a chat about this cos i would really like to work with you !!!
Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.

Hey, what happened to the handsome band? Just listened to a couple of tracks. I quite like some of the lyrics although i am slightly concerned your guitar is out of tune, maybe you should sort that out. Good to see your not dead anyway, i thought you might be heading that way at one point. x
Sorry for the bulk message people, although Im doing them all individually cos I dont have any crazy computers to do it for me.
I just wanted to let everyone know that my 2nd EP is done and its FREE for download now, cos I suckered PUNKTASTIC recordings to put it out for me.
So, either go onto a special 2nd myspace page I set up just for this EP and download all the tracks and artwork individually, or click on the links below to get it all as a .zip file.
