Originating from Kingswinford in The Black Country, Richey grew up listening mainly to whatever the old man played on long car journeys (Queen, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Who) but is a fan of many different genres of music; punk, metal, ska, reggae, folk, acoustic, alternative rock, indie, blues, jazz, torch songs, prog, classical, and more. For Richey, the most important element of any music is whether or not it inspires an emotional response in the listener. Incorporating all these different styles, he hopes to create something new and distinct that will attract fans across all the above genres. (That's a pretty tall order, so don't hold him to that!)
At the age of 13 he received his first guitar for Christmas and immediately set about creating a tuneless racket. Convinced this kind of music would never catch on, he began to learn the instrument in earnest and by the age of 18 was an accomplished rhythm guitarist. Having written poetry since the age of 10, Richey produced many embryonic songs during his teens, many of which served no greater purpose than teaching him what did and didn’t work in the context of ‘good music’.
At present, he has recorded four albums - Awkwardly Mobile, Conversations With Myself, Suddenly and A Madness Shared By Two - as well as an E.P. Richey is extremely proud of how all the songs have turned out, especially as he doesn't consider himself to be a musician. If you enjoy the songs or would like to hear more, please feel free to leave a comment on the page.
At some point in the future, Richey plans to put a band together with a view to playing local clubs. He hopes you enjoy what you hear and thanks for visiting the page. All songs are now officially copyrighted material.
Hi Mate, many thanks for the comment. Yes i do play all the instruments, though its mainly just guitar! I've been trying to listen to your songs but the only one that will play is 'You have what you want you'll get' - which is fantastic, hints of Kings of Leon in there. I'll be back to listen to the others. Cheers, John
Richey David Hackett, My Brother....yes its quite remakeable i have a brother as talented as this one. Never really thought you'd make any use of your old songs like Cigarette etc but the moment i listen to songs like Coming Home, Think like a Shrink, and our little songs Little Things (woow) i realise how talented you are. I know you're true dream has always been Film Making/Directing but i really think you've got the eyes and ears for music. I can't believe how easily you write lyrics all of mine consist of lines like "Hey I'm Lydia and i'm hear to say all my lyrics are rather gay" etc. I think you need to push your albums in the face of the media and show people what true music is. You've always guided me to listen to legends like Placebo. Pixies, Manic, Queen, R.E.M, Nirvana, Beatles etc and i really think there are elements of these legends in your songs. If they can make it big Richey i know you can.
Keep this up mate and i promise one day your dreams will come true.
Your littlest Sister (whos very greatful for your life) Lidey =] love you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
