With two decades of crowd pleasing and hard work under his DJ belt, Richie Cannizzo has grown to become a household name in New York City's underground nightclub scene. Regarded as one of the first NYC dj's to perform solely with a laptop, Richie's penchant for staying ahead of the technology curve has propelled him from high school school drop-out to afterhours hero at a determined pace. Indebted to his loyal following of weekly party-goers, he is known for his 14 hour marathon sets that keep the crowd from start to finish. Richie's eclectic taste in all things house allows his audience to experience what he calls "remixing on the fly," a mixing technique that has him working and reworking the records he plays.
Richie's colorful career started when his sister got him a gig at a local gentlemen's club. He was hooked instantly and bought his first set of turntables and mixer the next morning. It's been a tough journey that is finally paying off, but for him, it's his humble beginnings that gave birth to his intuitive people skills and his unyielding perseverance and passion for his craft.
Richie is no stranger to the studio either, his early production "Bang" in addition to the white label mixes of CrazyTown's "Butterfly", Journey's "Don't Stop Believin"," ACDC's "You Shook Me" and Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back" have gotten the attention and respect of his peers, and he is currently in the studio collaborating with friend and legendary producer Keith "KLM" Litman on what will be his second original.
From deep tech, to in your face bangin' tracks, Richie can be heard spinning as many as five nights a week in New York City alone. In addition to his current weekly residencies at NYC's LeSouk and Falucka, he has graced the speakers at NYC's premier hot-spots including Pacha, Nikki Beach, Moomia, Aura, Guest House, Exit, Ikon, China Club, Shelter, Gypsy Tea, Remy, Suede, Release, Rush, Plumm, Green Room, Remote and others.
