Rich Maya is a singer/songwriter based in the southwest of England. Singing has always been a big part of his life from early childhood: performing in family concerts at the age of four and singing in national choirs by the age of twelve. At seventeen, he began teaching himself to play the guitar and wrote his first songs, and since then he has experimented in rock bands and blues jams. But it is only in the last few years that he has really discovered his where his musical strengths lie, and taken the necessary steps to make music both the main asset he wishes to offer to the world, and the means by which he earns his living. Before now he has worked as a delivery driver, a motorway maintenance labourer, and a support worker for homeless people. He has also done some work to promote music, running a highly acclaimed acoustic showcase, where his focus was to offer a space in which musicians could perform to genuinely attentive audiences, and audiences would get to see just how much amazing talent there was on their doorstep, working away unnoticed by the mainstream music media.
As a man who has long believed that the potential for the human race to evolve to the point of living peacefully on the paradise of Earth, is a bonafide reality, Rich has done some intense study and introspection over the years. Consequently many of his songs are the distillation of such moments when a question has been held long enough for some resolution to present itself from the depths of his creativity. Further listening however, will show you that such vulnerability and depth extend to the full range of his experiences, which he shares freely with his audience in the hope that people might feel more connected with their own humanity. This barefaced honesty, combined with his able handling of a guitar, and his warm, but powerful voice, create a unique and engaging performance, unifying audience members from a huge variety of backgrounds in their sense of appreciation.
