Richy Pitch first made his name back in 1996 as resident DJ at the legendary London Hip Hop club night Scratch which is currently back at it's old home the Cross Bar, now called The Big Chill House.
It was here, and later at the Scala that Richy gained valuable knowledge and experience Dj'ing alongside legends such Macy Gray, Eminen and the Black Eyed Peas, Mix Master Mike, DJ Spinna, Mos Def and Talib Kweli.
Richy has recorded and produced music in the US with many respected MCs including J-Live, El da Sensei, Mr Complex, Asheru and Apani B where he recorded his critically acclaimed Live at Home LP on New York label Sevenheads.
More recently Mr Pitch has been showing his soulfully diverse production skills collaborating with the likes of Red Snappers Karime Kendra, Soulives Reggie Watts and London Soul diva, Marcia Escoffery (who featured on his recent Green Lanes EP).
Richy has been busy remixing for the likes of pop favourites Outkast as well as jazz funk ambassador Roy Ayres. He has even done production work for Universal for the likes of crooning legend Englebert Humperdink where he helped on some drum programming.
He has also been ghost producing for TV with tracks produced by Richy being used in both Japan and the US networks ABC and Fox on programs such as The Daily Show, Oprah Winfrey and America's Most Wanted.
In 2006 he compiled 2 compilations for the Unisex record Label (Demon Music Group). The first was East Coast Hip Hop - The Soulside and was released in February 2006. The LP was inspired by his many DJ sessions at the world famous Jazz cafe, alongside the likes of Talib Kweli, The Pharcyde, The Roots and Slum Village. The LP features a bonus track produced by Richy which is the first track on the player above.
Richy is currently back in the UK after living in Accra (Ghana) and is mixing down his Ghanaian LP which includes established artists in and around Accra including the likes of 2006 Mobo award winner Batman Samini, Hip Life Pioneer Reggie Rockstone and the very talented Wanlov the Kubolor, Sena Dagadu and Mensa. Should be on the streets and the net by mid summer!
