Feeling, Feeling and more Feeling… To sing Tejano music you have to feel the music, this was el consejo mas importante that was instilled into Rick Balderrama's heart about Tejano music. At age four he was given a dented up trumpet just to make him feel that he was a part of the band and that marked the beginnings of his musical notes that reflect his accomplished trumpet playing today. At age twelve he was on tour with his farther's band “La Patria”. At age sixteen his father had him singing background vocals and harmonizing with him and Rick's uncle Jerry Balderrama.
Playing his trumpet with local Jazz Bands and mariachis while still in high school was a different style and feeling that Rick was exposed to; however Rick has always had his feet and his heart anchored to his Tejano Roots. Throughout his career Rick has continued playing with “La Patria” and is now writing and arranging music along side with his father and brother Rich Barlderrama.
Being one of San Antonio's premier vocalist and best kept secret Rick Balderrama is about to release a new CD that brings back that Tejano flavor that a lot of Tejano listeners have been waiting for; and it is coming soon!
“To sing Tejano you have to sing with feeling”, sounds very cliché Huh? But there is no doubt about it Rick will lay out all of his feelings on his new venture in the Tejano Music industry.
