  • Bio

Hi, I'm Rick Moors. I'm a blue-collar bass player originally from Kansas City, but living in Los Angeles since 1977. I've played thousands of gigs and basically have done only this for the last 46 years since my first professional gig on drums at age 14. Over the years I've been lucky enough to play, tour or record with many great musicians and have been able to benefit from years of exposure to many different musical styles. I usually average about 200 gigs a year in the Los Angeles area with a bunch of groups like The Bonedaddys, Conjunto Jardin, Urban Dread, Bill Lynch and the Midwestern Icons, Alfred Johnson, Quetzalcoatl, and Unkle Monkey. In the past, I've played bass for Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Mary Wells, Oleta Adams, Robby Krieger, Ike Turner, Charles Brown, Frankie Laine, Sonny Bono, Combonation, Word of Mouth and a whole slew of others. I've been able to count great session players like James Gadson, Dean Parks, Alex Acuna, Tiki Pasillas, Luis Conte, Bill Lynch, Juke Logan and Mike Finnigan as bandmates or recording collaborators. I'm enjoying being a lucky guy who can make a living doing what I consider to be fun. I'm looking forward to another few decades of the same. I've included links to all the tracks posted here on which I've played bass. If you like the songs, please patronize the artists. The links are in the blog entitled: "About These Tracks." Be sure to check my blog for details on upcoming gigs, and general musical trivia. Thanks, and see you at the gig! Rick
