Talking about books, planning library events, making s'mores in the library, buying pizza for volunteers, making volunteers do my work for me, buying odd decorative object d'arte for the library and the like.

About me: I'm Rick and I am the coordinatior for Shoreline Teen Advisory Board (or STAB, as everyone calls it) at the Shoreline Library, in Shoreline, Washington. Nina, one of my STABies, as I call them, started this site for me since I was too lazy to do it myself. (And, if you're wondering, the name Ricko Baggins is derived from some offhand comments I made about looking like a hobbit. This just goes to show that you should always be careful about what you say.)
Now for some obligitory disclaimers:
The King County Library System does not have any control over the ads on MySpace. The library does not in any way endorse the ads on MySpace. Also, The King County Library System has no control over the content of sites that are linked to this MySpace site which includes the "Friends". If a site is found to be offensive, we will do our best to remove it from our Friends list or to remove the link to our page.
Enjoy the mini-documentary I filmed at Emerald City Comicon.
Thank you for adding me! I've published two comics for teens by Hyperion:"Biker Girl"and"Rock and Roll Love" are available now. This September my new comic, "Detective Jermain vol1"will be out too. I hope you can check them out!
Thanks for being my friend. I hope you’ll check out my new tween novel, GIVING UP THE GHOST, set on a haunted plantation near New Orleans two years after Hurricane Katrina.
It’s my dearest wish that my novel’s themes of fear, grief, and forgiveness, leavened with humor and gripped by a ghostly mystery, will bring comfort and healing to young teens living with uncertainty in unsettling times.
KIRKUS says (9/15/07) it has “teen appeal in spades” and is “a good choice for reluctant readers”!
Hiya Rick! Thanks for the cool daemon generator link. I pulled one for the Carnation-Duvall Library Page (I answered as their T.S. librarian, not as me, of course)
May is National Mental Health Month. We are happy to announce readergirlz has chosen Dia Calhoun's book, The Phoenix Dance, as our pick this month.
We hope you can stop by! Her full issue will run at www.readergirlz.com; you can drop her a comment at www.myspace.com/readergirlz, and then chat with everyone, including Diva Dia, at http://groups.myspace.com/readergirlz. Tell us about your favorite shoes!
Hope to see you there! Let's work together to bust the stigma against mental illness.
It’s here! Today is NBTBAM Day. Alfred Kropp – The Seal of Solomon is officially on sale.
Yancey has announced that if you read the book and post a short review of it in my comments on MySpace describing your favorite part; you will be entered in a random drawing. Three winners will be selected and will receive their choice of the Alfred Kropp Seal of Solomon t-shirt (there is a picture of it on my page) or a signed copy of Alfred Kropp-The Seal of Solomon. All reviews must be posted by June 10, 2007.
Thanks for the add. The main character in my forthcoming book (First Daughter: Extreme American Makeover, Dutton, June 2007) is blogging about the real First Kid wannabes in the '08 campaign. Check out Sparrow's Blog.
Hi Shoreline Teens,
Only a few more days to chat with Justina Chen Headley about Nothing but the Truth (and a few white lies) on our group site. Check out the fabulous discussion about racism and bullying, strong girls, and girlfriend power. We'd love to hear from you!
