One sixth of Glasgow rock outfit The Phantom Band and sometime player with David Scott's Early Songs, I have been playing music since I was a wee boy growing up deep in the Aberdeenshire wilderness. In 2005, with the aid of some toy instruments and a broken violin, I made the concerted effort to begin writing and recording more of my own songs. I made my live solo debut early in 2006 and assumed the pseudonym Rick Redbeard which I stole from a pirate.
One day I aim to live in a hut in the hills and communicate with the world through smoke signals and bird calls, but for now I use words and the odd song or two. Sometimes I perform them in bars. Maybe you'll see me one day and say hya...

Hi Mr.Beard, how's it going? Been reading about (and listening to) The Phantom Band stuff a lot, most interesting place being in a magazine in Berlin where they described you as krautrock. What a compliment! Still hoping to hear some more redbeard tunes in the future, though i know all too well the pain of solo songwriting/recording
