Rick and his band Hotbox are a high energy, vividly entertaining band with a diverse playlist of songs that you are sure to want to get on the dance floor for! You can find Hotbox playing in and around the Springfield area, so be sure to check the calendar and come out to one of the most entertaining shows in town! Hotbox is a collaboration of some of Springfield's finest musicians. With CP on saxophone and vocals, Robert Scrivener III on guitar, Robert Smith from San Diego on bass and Steve Graham on drums, this combination is one not to be missed!
Influences
John Coltrane, Lou Marini, Chris Duarte, Otis Spann, Ben Webster, Albert King, Freddie King, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, BB King, Rod Piazza, King Curtis, Little Walter, Marvin Gaye, Robert Scrivener (my friend and brother... I've learned so much from you)...wow... so many.... I don't even know where to go from there...the important thing is to put the music that you love in your ear... and listen actively for how it may impact your playing/singing. But always, always play what's in your heart. People will recognize the difference between someone playing the song and someone playing the song from the depth of their soul. That's the difference between good music and great music. Create a connection with the audience by sharing a piece of yourself with every note you play and sing. That's something that can't be forgotten.
Vocalist and Saxophonist for many bands in the Soutwest Missouri area over the last few years. Known for high energy performances and interaction with the audience. You never know if you'll find him up on the bar, on your table or up in the rafters. CP's true love is Blues. His natural ability to play and sing the Blues from the depths of his heart captivates audiences in it's sincerity.
Originally just a instrumentalist, his vocals have become a focal point in the last few years. Truly a bluesman with a Rock and Roll attitude.
With the trademark blue tinted glasses (yes, they're prescription) and non-stop energy, the show is never boring. Come out and see his shows as it's the biggest party in town and an evening you won't forget!
MyHotComments it may not be easy now, but there will be sunshine in your life again. Rain clouds dont stay forever...eventually the sun shines through, the clouds part, and you realize that along the way.....you are smiling and the birds are singing again:)
Thanks for the compliment on the page. Things with me are hectic, but hopefully at the end of all the madness will be celebration. I hope to graduate college on May 15th. I have worked hard to get to this point. Just have a few hurdles to clear.
I really enjoy your music. You and Hotbox are really good. I will have to come check a show out soon, when things slow down.
Keep that positive attitude. I think that every person you meet you can learn from. Love is a great gift no matter how long you have it.
