BIO:
After returning from New York in early September, 2001, Rick Strom grounded himself in Los Angeles and began organizing what would be the next step in getting his first feature film, Six Four into production. With very little accomplished, he decided to start work on the music for the film, a collection of eight eclectic, downtempo pieces of music, more than half featuring vocalist Shanna Dawn (known then as Shanna Slone).
That set of music, then titled Los Angeles :: Population 1, became an instant sensation on the internet, with half of the tracks making Mp3.Coms top ten downloads list, and making the standout track, Maybe I Should, one of the most traded mp3s on the internet.
Shortly thereafter, KCRW DJ Kevin Lincoln (incidentally, Stroms favorite radio DJ), got a hold of Population 1 and began playing tracks off of it on his weekly show Blueprint. It was around this time that Rick made the decision to put Six Four on hold and concentrate on music.
Radio play on KCRW and other stations led to a relationship with L.A. electronic label Water Music Records, who licensed several tracks from Population 1 for inclusion on compilations distributed by Universal. More importantly, it was through Water Music that Rick met legendary vocalist Julee Cruise, with whom he collaborated on the track Cha Cha in the Dark for her album The Art of Being a Girl.
In August of 2002, Rick played with Julee at her in-store appearance at Virgin Megastore in Hollywood, and returned to New York in September of 2002, to perform with Julee at the Virgin Megastore in Union Square, as well as two sold out shows at Joes Pub in Manhattan.
In 2003, Rick remixed a track called Close to the Limit for actress/model Nastassja Kinski (appearing on the Universal compilation This Is Dance. in early 2004. The Population 1 track N was featured in a national TV ad campaign for Shield/MRI.
Currently, Rick is promoting Flow, an album of original music with guest vocalists Shanna Dawn, Julee Cruise, and Russian actress Lena Kashtuyeva. Flow is available for download through SoulSeek Records (www.soulseekrecords.com) and Glowdot (www.glowdot.com) Tracks from Flow and Population 1 can be heard on over 20 radio stations in the U.S., as well as radio in Norway, Japan, and England.
In 2005, Strom will co-write and produce the next album from David Lynch/Angelo Badalmente collaborator and former B-52 Julee Cruise -- a melodic IDM opera -- and write and produce a companion stage show to be staged in New York City.

Don't know if I've said it yet, but thanks for the Add Request! I'm all over "Flow, " and am awaiting the newest goods. As far as any connection I or my music has with Norway, well, that's where my family is from, as are such groups as Zeromancer, Icon of Coil and Panzer AG. Sorry if I caused any sort of confusion! ~Best Wishes, Eric.
