Influences have come from all sides of the industry....from Cat Stevens to Nelson Riddle, from Toot's to the Beatles, from Neil Diamond to Richie Havens....Quincy Jones to The Swingle Singers doing Mozart to James Taylor.... In otherwords, no one style could complete me. I am also influenced by great local talent that aren't quite known yet...but take the stage and command it......................Please take a listen to an original of mine that John Joiner & I performed at the Silver Moon Cafe Live one night posted on UTube .............................................................................................................................................................................
country boy fixin to leave
Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
Had no army, yet kings feared Him.
He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
Feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us.

Hi, I'm Rick Whaley. Thanks for stopping by.
I've been playing music and singing all of my life, and have enjoyed every single moment of it. I've had fun jamming with such artist's as Al DeMeola, George Benson, Rock Killough, Teddy Pendergrass, Sam & Dave, Mickey Newbury, The filthy Rich, The Coasters, The Drifters, Jack Williams, Larry Baeder, Billy Dean, Farren Young, Jerry Vivino, Wayne Carson, Beverly Jo Scott, Mac Vickery, and more... so many more! I'VE BEEN BLESSED!. Even WolfMan Jack sang a few with me in Frisco back when at a concert that he hosted. What a good memory!
I also have been on the recording side as well...as enginneer and producer, working in NJ,CO,TN,FL, and Oslo, Norway. Recording and/or Productions include: Jimmy Louis, The Filthy Rich, Jack Williams, Larry Butler, Vic Saul, Larry T. Wilson, Mickey Newbury, Alan Rhody, Lisa Mills, Larry Jon Wilson, Billy Joe Shaver, Johnny Shines, Red Lane, HanK Cochren, Bo Roberts, Guthrie Trapp, Larry Henley, and so many more friends.....also the 11 day Frank Brown International Songwriter's Festival every year since 1989...with many projects resulting.
I'm currently performing in the Florida/Alabama line area, an incredible piece of paradise, with a very elite guitarist by the name of John Joiner, or...JJ... what a Talent! I also have the privilege of sharing the stage with Vic Saul and Larry T. Wilson from time to time, as well as Big Earl/Jack Robertson. As of late I am also playing guitar and singing with a very talented vocalist...Leanne Creswell. As I said earlier...I am blessed.
If you happen to be in the Perdido Key, Fl. area sometime...maybe having a bushwacker at the world famous "Florabama"...look me up....I'll be performing somewhere nearby (if not At the Florabama), or hanging out with one of my friends (a very cool cast of character's) out on the water or on the island!
Again, thanks for stopping by...
