Interests

  • General

    My greatest interest at the moment are playing guitar, exercising and learning about my new camera. I am easily amused and can be immediately interested in whatever is next but, if it doesn't hold my interest for very long, I can become quickly bored and move to the next thing or just go to sleep. I love to dream. Dreaming is like crack. They make drugs for that I know but, whatever's next is usually more interesting and fun.

  • Music

    Music? Music is everywhere! I swear the other day, I was at work and a busser set down a full bus tub on the bar, the bartender rang up something, a customer was sliding there empty glass for a refill and from all that I heard "Money" by Pink Floyd!

  • Movies

    I love to watch movies when I can. I really love to rent because I can chill at the house, cook up a shitload of food, pop open some wine, beer or what have ya and just eat, drink and be merry for like six to eight hours of action/adventure, horror, scifi, whatever I'm catching up on.

  • Television

    Don't really have enough time to keep up but, I'll hang out with the Discovery Channel, History Channel, FoodNetwork, maybe adult swim if I'm lucky. I really like TNT. They know drama.

  • Books

    To be honest, my brain is probably dying because I don't feed it with enough "brain food". Sorry, I just procrastinate too much and seem to find something better to do. Actually, I just can't seem to get still enought to get into a good book. I need to though. I miss being lost in a good story. It's amazing how deeply immersed you can find yourself when you finally have to lift your head from the pages. I did get into the Shanara series along time ago, have read A Wizard of EarthSea, A Wrinkle In Time, love reading George Carlin... don't know, can't think anymore. See, brain damage from NO READING!

With the Hanged man there is often a sense of fatalism, waiting for something to happen. Or a fear of loss from a situation, rather than gain.

The Hanged Man is perhaps the most fascinating card in the deck. It reflects the story of Odin who offered himself as a sacrifice in order to gain knowledge. Hanging from the world tree, wounded by a spear, given no bread or mead, he hung for nine days. On the last day, he saw on the ground runes that had fallen from the tree, understood their meaning, and, coming down, scooped them up for his own. All knowledge is to be found in these runes.

The Hanged Man, in similar fashion, is a card about suspension, not life or death. It signifies selflessness, sacrifice and prophecy. You make yourself vulnerable and in doing so, gain illumination. You see the world differently, with almost mystical insights.
