Bio:

I, Ricardo Anthony Tracey, otherwise known as Ricky Benz was born in Jubilee Hospital, Kingston, Jamaica on October 27th,1978 I initially attended 111 Basic School, then the Saint Ann's Bay Basic School for 6 months.After finishing Basic School, moved back to Kingston in 1986. I then attended the Clancarty Primary School till 1992. I passed my exams to enter the Clancarty High School. During my time there, my main subject was Welding. But my real vocation was always going to be music. That's all I always wanted to do.I remember that on numerous ocassions, me and my friends would use our desk tops as drums and our teacher would tell us to stop the noise.....From those times I started deejaying at class parties, concerts.I left high School 1997. One of my friends from Monster Twin,( Ringo Kid ), always used to call me Spragga, as most of the school too, so i utilized it and call myself ( Ricky Benz ),I appeared as a Spragga Benz lookalike in the Jamaican, Star Newspaper in the year 2000. I entered the music business professionally from 2001,I appeared on various shows including. (1) Peace and Love Inter Clubbing 2003,in Rollington Town.Featuring Sugar Minott The Clarendonians, True Man Chewstick, Natty Pablo, Ken Boothe, Mr Peppa. (2)Ready Fi Di World, 18 Dec 2004,in Border Square, St. Andrew, featuring,Natty King, Proverbs, Catis, Million Teeth, Andy Livingston, Super Blacks, Jah Jah Ranks, Tenda Stew, WissiWassi Monster Twins and many more. (3)Shaka Blacks,(from Boston USA ) Live in concert on Windward Road,Kingston, 26 July 2004.Featuring, Singing Willow, Mr Banging, Wippa Demus, Hero 4, Shandy, Red Ants, Jah Wayne, Studio 44 Sounds with Mr Chill from Hot 102 fm.Live backing band was Penetrators. (4)Reggae Showcase,on 18 Dec 2004 at Classique Lawn, Old Harbour. Featuring,Junior Reid, Fanton Mojah, L. A. Lewis,General Trees, Carl Dawkins, Captain Barkey, Natty King, and many others. Sounds Included, Cave Man, Bass Odyssey, Big Links and Alaska. Backing Band was Ambassador. Over the years, I have recorded at Joe Gibbs Studio, Music Works Studio, Vendetta Studio, Steel Beat Endorsement Studio, Daddy Mix Studio, Black Scorpio, Cave Man Studio and Buss Out Studio. Which is your most memorable moment in the Studio Then? My most memorable moment in the studio happened when I was voicing specials and songs for release for Milky Red and DJ Red from Germany.They made me feel very comfortable and really special. In 2004. What was the title of the 1st song you ever did As a solo artist? My first song as solo was ( Love You Girl) So tell us who was your main Inspiration? There is more than one artist who inspired me.Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals, Kenny Rogers, Spragga Benz, Michael Jackson, and Sizzla, all had some influence on me. My first international tour I visit Sweden in 2009, where I did shows with one of the biggest sound systems in Sweden, Trinity sound system at club ”Bysis”. More shows in Sweden I was also the featuring artist at the Urban Easter Party holled at club ”Metro” in Stockholm. More shows in Sweden I permormed in Uppsala at club ”Orange” with Mash Up International sound system ”Stereo Steppers”, guest selector ”Oskadus”. Media apperance in Sweden I was featured in a Swedish newspaper called ”Uppsalatidningen”. I was also featured in www. untfredag.se which is a website over happenings in Uppsala.
