Ricky Carmona was born and raised in Chicago. He began his professional comedy career at the world famous IO Theater “Chicago’s best place for improv”. Here he studied under the likes of Peter Guinn (writer for the Colbert Report), Susan Messing, and Del Close. Ricky went on to be one of the founding members of Salsation!, Chicago’s only all-latino sketch comedy improv troupe which is currently celebrating it’s ten year anniversary.
In the world of stand up comedy Ricky Carmona has become one of the more popular acts in Chicago. He’s performed at some of the biggest comedy clubs in the city such as Zanies and the Improv, the biggest alternative rooms such as CHUC & The Lincoln Lodge, as well as performing and travelling across the country. Ricky also is a regular performer with Mikey O. Comedy Productions and is one of the seminal members of CHUC, Chicago Underground Comedy, and can be seen performing with them regularly.
Recently Chicago’s NewCity Magazine had this to say about him:
“High energy and a free-wheeling, fearless delivery define Carmona, one of Chicago’s best and brightest locals. Unafraid to talk race and politics, he counteracts his edge with his unique style and affability.”
