About me:
Ditch your Decks & Pickup your Laptop!
DJs in the 70s discovered they could create new musical masterpieces that would elevate them to positions of power with a couple of direct drive turntables and a cheap mixer from Tandy.
The DJs soon summoned the boffins to create them a powerful weapon so they could effectively rule over their subjects.
The boffins delivered, and the DJs got their weapon of mass destruction; The Technics 1200.
Riding high on there success the boffins splintered off from the DJs and made a claim for global domination with their new secret weapon, The CD player.
The DJs weren’t too pleased and a bloody war broke out which lasted 10 years and resulted in the defeat of the DJs after they lost their primary source of power, Vinyl.
Admitting Defeat a truce was announced and the two warring factions worked together to once again bring harmony to the world with an even more devastating weapon, a CD player with a pitch control!
It has been over 6 years since the truce but now a new threat faces the world, this time from a new foe; The Techno Nerds!
The Techno Nerds have created a weapon so powerful it is set to change the balance of power once again.
The name of this new weapon ‘The Laptop’.
Many DJs have already defected and many more are joining the ranks of the Techno Nerds, ditching their decks and CDs and arming themselves with deadly, more powerful laptops.
The days are numbered for the DJs who do not defect!
To date defectors include 2 Many DJs, Dave Clark, Sasha, Richie Hawtin and Sheffield’s Own Ricky Chopra.
To witness the devastating power of the new age laptop DJ for yourself you will need to meet at the Forum in Sheffield on the 16th of June where recent defector Ricky Chopra will be performing a revolutionary 4 hour Electro Clash set on his laptop powered by Ableton Live 6.
