Critics have long hailed Ricky Fitzpatrick as "the next James Taylor", with a voice that's "as smooth as moonshine". Comparisons to Jim Croce, Shawn Mullins, John Denver and Shawn Mullins have abounded over the years. But these days, despite a long and successful history in secular music, Ricky, with a turn of the heart back to Christ, is writing and singing exclusively Christian music and following a higher call.
His latest CD, “Beside Me All Along” is a collection of tastefully crafted, intimate, unplugged versions of some of the most timeless inspirational hymns and Holiday songs ever written. Fans of artists like Wes King, Bebo Norman, Amy Grant, Rich Mullins and of course, James Taylor will surely want to add it to their collections.
Ricky’s musical career spans over 20 years, in pop, rock, country and Christian genres, performances from “Live at the Apollo” to The Bluebird Café, and over a dozen industry awards for vocal performance and songwriting, including the prestigious American Acoustic Music Association “Songwriter on the Rise”. He’s also celebrated a Number One download in the UK, was named as one of the Top Ten Folk artists on Myspace and served as the 2008 GMIA Writer Relations Director for the State of GA.
In addition to his musical work, Ricky still maintains an active schedule with the charitable organization that he helped to found, The Healing Power of Music, along with 300-plus other artist partners such as James Taylor, Neil Young, Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman, Casting Crowns, Switchfoot, Amos Lee, Dolly Parton and more. HPM takes live music to hospital patients of all ages around the world, giving them the gift of a song and a free CD of wide-ranging music from 15 HPM-Affiliated Artists from all over America, Australia, Europe, Canada and the Middle East.
Today, Ricky lives and pursues the voice and vision of Christ, in the tiny community of Apple Valley (unincorporated), GA with his wife, children and goldfish.
