About me:
Well, my name's Ricky Meeks, and I have resided in Wilmington for over 35 years - born here, fourth day of November, 1968, and I'm a graduate of New Hanover High School, of 1987, from New Hanover High School. And, so I also do the scoreboard for the softball team at UNCW the last several years. And, was raised up and involved in the Salvation Army church, and have involvement with them, and also involved with the Special Olympics of New Hanover County.
And, so, I've lived in Wilmington all my life, and like I said, graduated from New Hanover High School in '87; got all my education here. I was the son of a single mother, who passed away back in 1992. No brothers, no sisters; live alone. I've been living by myself since 1992, of October.
At the last forum that we had at UNCW, I was sick; I had the shingles.
And, so that kind of came from probably not taking care of myself, and you know, when you live a single life, and no girlfriends or wife, or ... it's kind of difficult to run for public office.
