Everyone from Elvis to the Pixies---Bob Mould, Kinks, Dictators, Velvets, iggy, Mardi grasBB---who else--Mission of Burma--the list goes on! I've been around and like the real stuff--no posers. A good song is a good song!
Sounds Like
Pixies, Husker Du, Janes Addiction, Dictators, Dead Boys
Ric the Chef aka Ric Orlando aka Ricky Rondo, Ric Rondeau aka me--I started playing T REX,
Iggy and Black Sabbath tunes when I was 14. In 1977 I co founded Hot Bodies with Kerry Miller, an early New Haven Punk band--three piece, loud, a little poppie---killer stuff. Then onto TV NEATS with Spike Priggen and friends---"we were trying to make it"--then onto Boston in 1982 for Frog Kit, His Boy Elroy and finally Skin--explored my early '70s black music roots ( grew up in New Haven after all) got experimental, funky and artsy-- we lived in Boston in the '80s--if you were there, you knew SKIN. Did a feww Indie releases, got too commercial because by now "we were tryng to make it" again! Packed it in in '88 and moved to NYC and formed Moby Dicks with my high school soulmate, Jerry Apuzzo--recored a ten song demo album WHALIN- rootsy, crunchy Jesus and Mary Chain meets Georgia Satellites... Then on to Woodstock when--My House Burned Down! No More music for a few years---no tapes, no lyrics--ALL GONE! So I became a Chef Rock Star-I knew cooking was something to fall back on!---I do tons of TV, a Book, MEDIA MADNESS---it's real easy after fronting bands my whole life--and I'm still cheffing and loving it! But this current horrific regime running our country into the ground has me inspired to rant musically--funny how when times are oppresively stupid, the music gets better!
so here it is
RIC THE CHEF!
