Ride for Autism is a volunteer group dedicated to raising funds benefiting non-profit entities that are directly involved with the Autism Spectrum Disorder, by organizing motorcycle fun rides in the Los Angeles area.
Autism is a developmental disability that effects 1 in 150 kids. It is a growing epidemic and we need to stop it NOW. Some kids with autism are severely effected, others mildly. Some kids with autism have a lot of trouble with speech and social skills, as in some can't talk or express how they feel. Kids with autism most of the time do not have any physical abnormalities, that's what makes it so hard to distinguish them. Not only does autism effect kids and adults, but their families as well.
RIDE FOR AUTISM is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families of individuals with autism and related disorders. It is a motorcycle ride that will take off on ..August 8, 2009.. from Laidlaw's Harley-Davidson in Baldwin Park, CA and end at Original Mike's in Santa Ana,CA.

We are excited to let all of you know that we have officially launched the AWN's Forum and Website. A million thanks to our Beta Test Group as we could not have worked out the bugs & kinks without your participation over at the site early on.
Please head over and join us at the Autism Women's Network
Just a couple of FYI's before you register:
1.) AWN's official color theme is red; however, our Web Developer, Lori Berkowitz has given you additional theme colors to choose from in case the red causes you sensory issues. You will have a choice to switch to a blue or green theme at any time.
2.) Please do not hesitate to let us know if you come across any kinks while you are over at the site as we are new, and in the beginning we expect this could happen. Hopefully the beta testing has taken care of the bugs by now. *fingers crossed*
3.) Please take a moment to introduce yourself and post a comment over at the Forum. There are hundreds of posts and discussions going on over there which were started by our Beta Group, and we are looking forward to having you join in the conversations!

AWA welcomes ASAN President Ari Ne'eman and Board Member Paula Durbin Westby, organizer of Saturday October 31st Washington DC area protest against Autism Speaks. We'll be hearing from them about ASAN's protest at Autism Speaks' DC area walk-a-thon Saturday as well as the growing wave of protests against Autism Speaks around the country, why its happening, where its going, what its implications and importance will be for the neurodiversity movement & the autistic community. In addition, we'll be checking in with ASAN on some of their advocacy priorities inside the beltway, asking about how Autistic people will be impacted by the health reform packages being considered by Congress and what pending legislation on school abuse might have to help Autistic students.
