I'm just back from The Big Chill festival, so not exactly feeling too great just now. At least I've got a couple of days off work to recover though. Just need to stuff my face with plenty of fruit and veg, and I'll be as good as new soon enough!

Fastly becoming one of the most popular bands on the Scottish indie scene and it’s about time too. Le Reno Amps take a very fresh approach to the alt-country sound mixing it up with surf guitar and punk-pop. Poison Letter isn’t quite the instantly catchy last single ‘Wound Up’ but after a few listens, you’ll appreciate it like a fine wine.
‘Whimsical’ American indie from Glasgow, it’s cute, catchy and goes all out in its bid to secure the audiences attention making use of an instrumental arsenal that belies the simplicity of the song. Combining elements as diverse as punk and alt-country, LRA seem to have mastered the art of making things seem easier than they are. Lisa Holmes
On their myspace page, Le Reno Amps describe themselves as, "A poor man's Smashing Pumpkins with less balls". Although their modesty is admirable, on hearing their latest single, 'Poison Letter', I would describe them as sounding less Smashing Pumpkins and more like a noisier Ben Folds. Noiser in the sense of how I imagine Folds to sound if he ventured into the studio with a number of drunk musician friends and cranked it up a notch or two. This song is destined to be a hit at the festivals this summer. It would sound perfect in a shady tent on a hot summer's day after a giddy few hours knocking back the beer. That's not to say that Le Reno Amps are destined for the indie trash can when the leaves start falling and the festival tents are stored away for another long winter, for this band has the potential to form a solid fanbase and stick around for quite some time. Let's just hope that the Scottish boys and little lady don't take so long to write the next record. Caroline Herbert
