In late 2002 South Bend, Indiana native, RIELY OCONNOR headed out to local open mics to try out his original songs as a solo performer. A year later he was driving to Nashville, Tennessee to record his first CD.
In Nashville Riely collaborated with long-time friend, Nashville recording artist/producer KAREN ANGELA MOORE. A first class recording space and top session musicians allowed Riely and Karen to craft a CD with a classic sound to highlight Riely’s songs.
“Workin’ On A Memory” was released in August of 2004 and Riely began booking music venues to present his “all-original” shows. His performances showcase a songbook known for powerful themes, insightful lyrics and “hum-able” melodies. Riely delivers the goods with emotion and an energetic stage presence. He often performs with an ensemble of backing musicians and frequently invites guest artists to his stage, but Riely is equally appreciated by audiences for his captivating solo acoustic shows.
In 2006 Riely recorded his second album in Nashville. Co-producing it with Karen Angela Moore, Riely collaborated with a cast of great musicians to present 12 more originals. “A Dream Or Two” was released in July 2006.
In May of 2006 Riely completed work on his Nashville-recorded single, "In The Meantime", which was released as a download single on his myspace page www.myspace.com/rielyoconnor . His next single project is underway with final mixing to be completed in late February of ‘08.
Riely performs often in the Northern Indiana-Southwest Michigan region and tours regularly in the South and the West. His February '08 western tour included shows in Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona and Texas.
He also performs regularly in central Indiana with his Indianapolis-based band, RIELY OCONNOR BAND. Many of his upcoming shows for 2008 will feature the duo he has formed with MOLLY B MOON (vocals, mandolin and guitar). In recent months Riely and Molly have performed shows in four states, from Indiana to Arizona.
I was doing some chores this weekend and put "Working on a memory" on....nice, nice listening! I hate that I'll be in Orlando when you're in Indy in July.
If I were going to be in town this coming weekend, I sure would come out (I've yet to make it to a Village Fest). As it is, I will be playing in Bloomington that weekend at a May Day celebration. Have a great Village Fest!
Hey Riely, I am so happy we recorded that show, and happier still that WBAA aired it on schedule this time. Glad that you enjoyed it, and hope Molly got to hear it. Hope to see you down here, at least by Riverfest. SAMI just selected new young songwriter scholarship winners; what great kids. We will have awards and performances on May 19th, if you can join us.
Hope all is going well for you and Molly with the recording. I must say my songwriting and singing are on the back burner... You two are an inspiration. Perhaps I'll dust off the acoustic today :-) Take care...
Hey Riely, I supposing you are gigging somewhere Saturday night, otherwise I'd say come on down for this!
